Michelle Phan is one of the celebrities I love to follow. I just love watching her videos and seeing how she applies makeup and learn new tricks. When I saw em was created by Michelle Phan I knew I really wanted to try it. But investing $30 in a makeup brand that I have never tried was a little much. Then I saw IPSY had special on Michelle Phan so I quickly took advantage of it, now I could try out em without sinking a large chunk of money into it.Now, I didn’t get the Life Palette, though I really want to. For my first adventure with em I decided to try the Madagascar Taupe shade play compact. It comes in several other combinations, currently, there are 15 on the website. This is the perfect size to take with for a weekend getaway or to keep in my purse for a touch-up.
Inside the Shade Play compact, there are 6 different shades. The largest shade being your all over lid color, then you have 2 eyeliner colors, another eyeshadow, contour and highlight color. There are endless combinations! You can take your look from day to night in a matter of seconds. Also included are 2 eyeshadow brushes with a small space for you to keep them in the compact. I also like the large mirror inside the compact, so no matter where I am I will always be able to do my makeup or freshen up on the go.
I’ve had my em Shade Play compact for a few weeks now and I’m loving it. I can create a smokey eye, a classic professional look or something in between.
I also like how em has tutorial videos demonstrating and teaching you how to use each product. For me, this takes any apprehension I have with trying new colors or shades out. I can check out a video and learn how to create a smokey eye or a new tip.
If you are sitting on the fence about trying em I suggest starting with the Artistic Palette. It’s a great way to try out em and see how rich each color is. I’ve been very pleased with my compact since the day it arrived. I will definitely be investing in a lifestyle palette soon!
