Did you hear? Wrinkle in Time hit the shelves today on Blu-Ray, 4K and DVD. Peyton and I saw A Wrinkle In Time back in March when it was a blizzard! The first showing was cancelled and we were fortunate enough to be able to make the rescheduled screening. Can I just say WOW! Peyton and I were both sucked in and captivated by A Wrinkle In Time. I’m not going to give away any spoilers or ruin the movie for you all. You can read all our thoughts about A Wrinkle in Time in our spoiler-free review. I will say it’s probably a little too long for kindergartners, 1st graders I’m on the fence about but 2nd grade up I am confident they will enjoy the movie.
In addition to A Wrinkle In Time being a great family movie, it also promotes STEM and STEAM. We have a few projects that you can do at home with your littles to help keep them flex their mental muscles and foster their love of science, technology, engineering, art and math. You can watch a full unboxing video later on our Facebook page of all these fun kits.
Did you know Disney teamed up with Barbie to make dolls of Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Which and Mrs Who? While all three dolls are very detailed and beautiful, I have to admit that my favourite is Mrs Whatsit so I am super excited to be able to share her with all you. Reese Weatherspoon did a spectacular job bringing Mrs Whatsit to the big screen. The Mrs Whatsit doll brings me back to A Wrinkle In Time and all the quirky little traits of Mrs Whatsit.
A Wrinkle in Time A Guide to the Universe is perfect for all A Wrinkle in Time lovers. It’s a great way to get your little ones reading this summer and flexing those reading muscles. This book is geared towards 3rd graders to 7th graders, ages 9-13 years old. There are beautiful illustrations throughout the book that are actual scenes from the movie! So if you little is a huge fan they’ll love reading the book and seeing the movie scenes throughout.
Have your child use all the STEAM skills to create their very own Crawly Creature with a kit by littleBits. They create their very own, one of a kind creeping, crawling electronic creature. Once you’ve finished your masterpiece you can practice creeping around and even turn your creation into a moving collage!
Another fun kit to keep on hand this summer is the Pinwheel Crafts Flower Origami Kit. This kit will teach you how to make 30 different flower projects out fo the 100 pieces of paper that come with the kit. There are also bendable stems and decorative buttons and jewels too! Think of all the creativity that is going to come out of using STEAM to create Origami Flowers to decorate the house.
Melissa & Doug have a few kits that help foster STEAM without making a glittery mess. I was extremely excited when I saw these kits because Peyton loves to use glitter but I hate constantly picking up and cleaning glitter up all over the house, it’s like a never-ending struggle! We are going to be making 2 sparkling scenes with the Mess-Free Glitter Flower and Butterfly Scene kit. And Peyton will also be making a few bracelets with Mess-Free Glitter Foam Bracelet Kit. Both of these are great for kids that love glitter for the sparkle and parents who despise glitter for the mess.
And the last must-have item hand this summer to keep those learning juices flowing is a deck of cards! There are so many things you can do with a deck of cards. Use it for math games, play with your friends or play games by yourself. The possibilities are endless! You can even use the cards to build a house of cards or a tower or castle or anything you can dream up.
We really enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time and hope you enjoy it with your family too. I also highly suggest picking up a few of these project, they make great family projects and could come in handy on rainy days or days it’s too hot for the kids to be outside.
