on the item you are holding. My biggest complaint when I am grilling is the intense heat while I am trying to turn meat or season it. It’s too much and often hurts my skin while I am doing it. When I was offered the chance to try out a set of cooking gloves made by Red Dust in exchange for an honest and unbiased review I agreed. I was anxious to try them out and see how well they worked.
When the gloves arrived I read through the specs. These gloves were heat resistant up to 425 degrees. Very important to know this as some things may be hotter and I would need extra protection. The specs also mentioned they are waterproof. Well that sounded great since we were coming up on Easter and there was going to be lots of boiling of eggs soon.
The first time I used the gloves was to grill. I was making some BBQ chicken and I wanted to see how well my hands would be protected when I applied the sauce. So I put the gloves on and opened up the grill. Took the brush and started slathering on the sauce. I didn’t feel the heat at all. I was able to take my time and really coat my chicken! Usually I am in such a rush because I can’t stand the intensity of the heat my chicken does not get evenly coated. But not this time. I was able to take my time and coat each piece. That lead to moist chicken with a really great flavor.
The next time I used the gloves was when I was prepping the eggs for coloring. I wanted to see how well I would be protected with boiling water. Water boils at 212 degrees so according to the spec I should be fine. And I was. I was easily able to place the eggs in the water and remove them with no issues. Probably the easiest way to boil eggs. I didn’t have to worry about using tongs and crushing the shell or trying to dump out the water with out dropping an egg. These worked great at protecting my hands while I handled the hot, freshly cooked eggs.
I really enjoyed trying out the Red Dust Cooking gloves. They kept my hand protected while I used them and also allowed me complete control over the brushes or eggs while wearing them.
