I have asthma and it can get pretty bad in the spring in fall. But one thing I have an extremely hard time at understanding is when I need to seek additional help beyond my inhaler or neutralizer. When I was offered the chance to try the GO-410 Finger Pulse Oximeter in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion I quickly agreed.
The Oximeter is very simple to use. When it arrived I simply took it out of the package and installed the 2 AAA batteries and it was ready. Extremely easy! This morning I have been struggling with my asthma so I thought I before I took my inhaler I wanted to see what my levels were. And in my opinion the Oximeter is right on. My oxygen was at 91 and my heart rate at 76. I already knew I was struggling a little so the level of 91 for oxygen made sense and the heart at 76 is higher for me but I am struggling a little so again it makes sense my heart rate would be elevated. Now I took my inhaler and waited to see if my oxygen levels would improve.
After about 10 minutes I took my oxygen levels again. I know my heart rate will be up because I always get jittery after taking my inhaler. The Oximeter told me my oxygen level was 99 and my
heart rate 88! Big improvement from taking the inhaler. I was not too surprised about the heart rate. I am pretty jittery from the inhaler.
I also appreciate the storage bag that comes with the Oximeter. It will protect it and make it easier to take with me when we are on the go. I understand this is not sold as a medical device but for me it helps monitor my oxygen saturation levels which correlates with how well my asthma is doing with seasonal allergies.
