Every little kids loves a push pop or Popsicle. But my complaint about the store bought ones is there is so much sugar and gunk in them. And some of them don’t even taste that great. Most of the time we never even finish the box because my daughter gets bored with the flavors or they end up freezer burned. When I was asked if I would like to try out the Kuuk silicone Popsicle ice molds in exchange for an honest and unbiased review I agreed. I was hoping we could make our own Popsicle at home that would be healthier and taste better than store bought ones.
First thing I did when the Kuuk silicone Popsicle ice molds arrived is wash them in a warm soapy solution, rinse thoroughly and let them air dry. While they were drying I started thinking of things we could make with them. So I did a little googling and came across a recipe on Vegan in the Freezer. There were several simple 2 ingredient recipes I could make! So I chose to make a blackberry grape Popsicle. Just the thought of those two sounded so yummy! Now I only had 4 molds to use and the recipe made 9 so I just cut it all in half. I bought some blackberries and grapes. When I got home I washed them off and then placed them on paper towels to dry.
I took 3 oz of blackberries and about a half pound of grapes (stems removed) tossed it all into my blender and blender it until I had a smooth texture. Her recipe called for a putting the mixture through a sieve but I just kept my vitamix on high until it was smooth. Then I poured the mixture into the molds and placed the tops. I tried to prop them up in my freezer and let freeze over night. The next day when my kid asked for a treat I handed her one of the Popsicles. At first she was confused because she hadn’t seen me make them but once I showed her what was inside she was pretty excited. She gobbled the whole thing right up. The texture was a little different because I left the pulp in the mixture but we liked it. And the Popsicle didn’t seem to stick to the side of the silicone. As she pushed it up at the bottom it slid out the top. Mess free!
