One note, be sure to use whole wheat flour. Cats cannot digest regular flour like we do. So a little extra special flour is a must for this recipe.First, preheat your oven to 350F and move your rack to the center position. In a food processor pour in the canned tuna and the water it is packed in. Blend until it is fine. You'll want a stand mixer for this next step. Combine the tuna, flour, and egg in your stand mixer and mix until it becomes a dough. If it is too dry add a little water. If it's too sticky add a little more flour. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean countertop and roll your dough out until it is about 1/4 inch thick. You want these thin because they do puff a little in the oven. With a small cookie cutter, 3/4 inch or smaller, cut out your desired shape. If you do not have a cookie-cutter you can also use a butter knife and cut little triangles into bit-size kitty pieces. Once you've cut out all the treats, place them on a baking pan with parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes. You should turn the pan at 10 minutes so the treats bake evenly. You will know the treats are done when they are a light golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool. Once they are at room temperature they are ready to be stored and given to the cats! Our dogs have also eaten these treats. Our husky mix, Balto, loves these too. So I use them as training treats for him. Keep these in an air-tight container and they will last about 2 weeks.
