Crumb Topping Directions
Add the flour, sugar, and butter in a bowl. Using your fingers or a fork combine the ingredients together. Continue working until the crumbs start to clump together. Move to the refrigerator until it needs to be added.
Filling Directions
Add the fresh cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and the sweet cream butter in a medium size pot. Cook on low heat. Stir to combine. Continue to cook on low heat until the mixture begins to thicken. Bring it to a boil. Remove the pot from the stove. Add the almond extract, stirring to blend. Set the pot aside allowing it to cool.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Scoop the pie filling into the crust. Using an offset spatula spread the filling evenly in the crust. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly on top of the pie. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. The filling will be bubbling and the topping should be a light brown. If the edges of the crust begin to burn, cover them with foil.
