$10 Dinners by Julie Grimes

Cooking for a family can be daunting. Trying to find a balance between offering tasty dishes your family will love without breaking the bank can be a challenge. $10 Dinners by Julie Grimes is all about finding delicious dinners for a family of four without breaking the family budget.

I spent some time flipping through $10 Dinners and picking out a few dishes I’d like to make for my family. The first thing I noticed is that each dish has been priced out so you know what it cost to make. Now keep in mind, this is what the author paid for ingredients when she made the book and that food prices can fluctuate throughout the country and throughout the year. One way to keep your food budget in check is to pick recipes with foods that are in season where you live.

Another feature I noticed while flipping through the book is all the colorful photos of finished dishes. I really like having pictures of finished dishes because then I know what I am making. I also have something to strive for while I am cooking to see if I can recreate it. Plus by looking at the dish I can tell if it is something my family will eat.

$10 Dinners by Julie Grimes is broken down into 10 different chapters.

Chapter 1 – Secrets of a Supermarket Tightwad

Here you will learn Julie Grimes tips and tricks for navigating the supermarket and saving some money at the same time.

Chapter 2 – Pizza & Pasta

Need I say more? You can get your carb on in this chapter.

Chapter 3 – Poultry

All things chicken and turkey are in this chapter.

Chapter 4 – Meats

This is your pork and beef section.

Chapter 5 – Fish & Shellfish

Your family can find some tasty ways to get those Omegas in here.

Chapter 6 – Meatless Mains

Looking for meatless Monday meal ideas? Look no further.

Chapter 7 – Sandwiches, Soups & Stews

Perfect lunch ideas or light dinner ideas.

Chapter 8 – Sides

Pick out some tasty sides to go with chapters 3 – 7

Chapter 9 – Pantry Basics

A little education of what should be in your pantry

Chapter 10 – Bonus

A few entertaining menus you can use for when you have guests over.

I cannot wait to try out some of these ideas on my own family.

You can order your own copy of $10 Dinners by Julie Grimes online or stop by your local bookstore.
