4 Things to Do In Jenkintown

I bet you are wondering where is Jenkintown? Well, I’ll tell you. Jenkintown is a borough in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It’s located about 10 miles north of Philadelphia. So it’s not that far from all those festivals I told you about last week. Just hop in the car and go for a quick ride. But if you want to stay in Jenkintown I do have some must-see and must do things for you.

The Goldbergs Tour

Are you a super fan of the popular hit show, The Goldbergs? If you are, you’ll want to keep reading. The show is actually based off the life of Adam Goldberg and his childhood/life growing up in Jenkintown! The tour includes 5 locations that were meaningful to Adam Goldberg. This is a fun way to walk around the town, see the sights and for those super fans, get a little feel of what it was like for Adam Goldberg living in Jenkintown and where the inspiration for the show came from.

Keswick Theatre

The Keswick Theatre opened on Christmas night in 1928 and has been a part of the community ever since. It’s nationally recognized as the most comfortable, acoustically perfect listening room in the entire Philadelphia market.  Over the years it’s gone through transitions and at one time was slated to be demolished. But it was saved, restored and reopened as a performing arts center. Today, you can see everything from a concert to a theatre production. If you have time, take in a performance.

Abington Art Center

There is some history behind this art center. Born in 1939, by a group of 26 women that came together to create the Old York Town Art Guild. These women were passionate about sharing the arts with those around them. As their group grew they evolved into a non-profit in the 1960s. They changed their name and settled into their now home in the 1970s and have been there ever since.  They’ve been through many transformations over the years but today you can visit the 27-acre campus and check out the latest exhibits and sculpture gardens or if you have more time sign up for a class.

Piazza on the Square

Looking for the place to do some shopping? If you answered yes you’ll want to head over the Piazza on the Square. Known for the shopping, delicious food and cute residences all in one location.  While there are only 9 shops you won’t find the same items in each one. Each shop is unique and independently owned. Along with 5 specialty restaurants, this is a unique stop while in Jenkintown. And if you’re lucky they may even be hosting a musical performance in the park!

These are just a few of the things you can do or see while you are in Jenkintown.
