As summer nears one of the things I try to do is sit down and plan out our weekends. I much rather be on a weekend road trip, exploring someplace new, than sitting in our house. There is so much to see and do! Today, I am going to share with you, 5 Wisconsin festivals that I think you should check out.
Morel Mushroom Festival
Now, this just sounds interesting – a mushroom festival?? The Morel Mushroom Festival is held in Muscoda, Wisconsin every spring. Since Morel Mushrooms are a challenge to grow, they can’t be harvested commercial so it’s more of a treat or delicacy. The town of Muscoda has taken this challenging food and turned and turned it into a festival. You can actually go and hunt for your own Morel Mushrooms!
100 Mile Garage Sale
Yes, you read that correctly, a 100 mile garage sale is held in Pepin, Wisconsin every year. You’ll want to be sure your car is clean and empty before heading out for this enormous garage sale. People really get into this! Think of all the treasures you could find!
Ho-Chunk Pow-Wow
Every spring in Black River Falls there is a huge Pow-Wow. Memorial Day weekend is when the Ho-Chunk tribe invites the public to a pow-wow to celebrate. This is a marvelous way to experience a Ho-Chunk tradition with authentic food and take in their culture and heritage.
Maple Syrup Festival
Who doesn’t love maple syrup? We do! From desserts to drinks to topping our pancakes with it, maple syrup is a staple in our home. In the town of Phelps, they celebrate every year with a huge Maple Syrup festival. It’s perfect for the whole family, young and old. You’ll learn how to tap a maple tree, how maple syrup is made and so much more! Plus there are some tasty eats too!
Wisconsin really is a beautiful state to take a road trip through. There are plenty of festivals, these are just a few of our favorite ones we wanted to share.
