A Day in My Life – Part 3

It’s been a crazy day! But now I’m at my very first PR cocktail party and I’m pretty stoked. I have no clue what to expect and I’m a little nervous. Plus, I’ve just realized these boots are KILLING my feet. But I power on. I walk through the lobby of the hotel and happen upon my hostesses. They are so nice!! We chit chat for a while and they send me up in the elevator to the event. So far this is pretty swanky. I’m used to chauffeuring my daughter around to dance lessons and swim class. Not getting all dressed up and having an evening of adult interaction! When the doors open, the room is full of people. Instantly I know I chose a great outfit because I fit right in. My only regret is that I didn’t have a chance to curl my hair, or apply perfume (remember from part 1 my daughter broke the bottle this weekend) or much make up. But I’m still feeling great about this.

I’m instantly greeted by another hostess and she gives me a quick tour of where everything is. A wonderful little bar area is set up and I request a glass of water. Around the corner is a spread! But with these killer shoes I decide to forgo snacks. No way can I balance a plate, eat and not fall over with these heels on and carry on a conversation. I wander around and somehow happen into a conversation with some fascinating people. Last night I met some of the most interesting people that have traveled all over the world! They shared pictures of their travels to some of the beautiful places in the world (now I wish I could travel!). It was a great night.

Before I knew it the clock struck 7 pm. I knew I needed to get home soon before my daughter filled up on junk food and went to bed without a bath. I retrieved my car from the valet and started to maneuver my way out of downtown. The traffic is nuts! I’m used to driving in the country  and suburbs. Nothings a big rush, the lanes are huge and rarely much traffic. But in downtown they drive like maniacs. Everything is at warp speed, the lanes are narrow, people cut each off and tons of traffic. I chuckled to myself, there used to be a time I loved being downtown and couldn’t get enough it. Now I just wanted out!

When I got back in my SUV I saw the gas light. I had forgotten all about it! Who knows how long the attendants had the car idling so I start searching for the nearest gas station as I head out of the city. I end up in a not so nice part of town and fill up. Then back on the freeway I head.

About 30 minutes later I arrived home. And there was my beautiful daughter chowing down on a vegetable platter! What? I was pleasantly surprised to see this. Then I remembered I was starving and ate all the snow peas. We picked up all the puzzles and games that had been taken out while I was gone for the evening. Then it was time to convince Peyton she needed a bath.

While Peyton was bathing I started to pick up our living room and check over emails. I responded to a few emails, unloaded the dishwasher, started a load of laundry and went through Peyton’s backpack. I looked over at the clock and noticed it said 9 pm! Quickly I washed Peyton’s hair and got her out of the tub. Applied her leave in conditioner, brushed her hair out and put her curly hair products in. Then I stuck her in bed to watch a little Garfield. Within 10 minutes she was out.

Now it was nearly 10 pm. I switched the laundry around and started another load. Went back into the bathroom and picked up her toys. Looked at all the blogging I needed to get done but I was just too tired to work. Then I remembered I still had not eaten dinner. And I was hungry. So I popped a pot pie in the microwave. I also realized I was still in my dressier clothes and changed into jammies while I waited for my dinner to cook . When my dinner was ready I took it to the couch and turned on the tv, searched through my DVR and found the latest episode of Empire. (Empire is my guilty pleasure. I just LOVE Taraji P. Henson.) It was such a great episode! But I was so bummed to see it won’t be back till like February!! What am I to do till then? I need my Cookie!!

Once I got over the shock of no more Empire for a few months I put my dirty dishes in the sink and headed to bed. It was a little after 11 pm and I knew I would be getting up at 5 am to start the rat race all over.

Well that 5 am alarm came awful quick! So quick I decided to hit snooze and slept till 6 am this morning. So basically I took 24 hours off from writing. That means no reviews today! Sorry. But you all get to read what a crazy life I live.

I blog because I love it. I love having a creative outlet. I also love sharing about things I know others will love. It’s time consuming and a lot of work. So while our lives may look glamorous they really are no different than yours. The only difference is I am constantly plugged into social media, I have a camera on me nearly all the time, I am constantly writing or thinking about writing and I have a slew of boxes sitting in a corner of my home at any given time. In my opinion to be a good blogger you have to love what you do. Just like with anything in life. If you love what you are doing then you will succeed.
