School is starting! We start tomorrow and it’s been a busy weekend of gathering everything together. There is just so much to do to get ready for school. But I’m fortunate. I am fortunate, that I can provide Peyton with everything on her school supply list and a new backpack too. Not every parent is able to do this. For the past 16 years, the Office Depot Foundation has been providing children with a sackpack. To date, they helped more than 4 million children. This year there are 7 different designs, all designed with kids in mind. You will not find the Office Depot Foundation’s logo anywhere on the sackpacks – except for a removable paper tag. Office Depot wanted to be sure children would be proud to carry the sackpacks they receive, with no risk of being stigmatized by something that clearly identifies it as an act of charity.I showed the sackpacks to a few children and I can tell you, Office Depot did an awesome job on the designs. The fish design was by far the most popular among girls and boys. The lego design was pretty popular with the boys. And the camo was popular too. Each sackpack is brightly colored and fun. Kids are going to proud to wear them.
Inside each sackpack there is a little pouch fill with a few crayons, full-size eraser, pencil sharpener, ruler, pencil and pen. Being a single parent, I know how hard it can be at times to meet all my child’s needs. It’s a constant balancing act. I appreciate programs, like the Office Depot Foundation, that is going and looking to partner with organizations in all 50 states. They are doing their best to find children in need and to help them.
