Camp Warner Bros Week 1: LEGO DC: Shazam! Magic and Monsters

Welcome back! Are you ready to kick off Camp Warner Bros? This week is all about Superheros. But before we get to our feature film of the week I’m going to talk about how to tie-dye your camp shirts. I’m starting to get pretty good at this tie-dying thing. I think this is my third set of shirts I’ve done this summer.

Shazam! Magic and MonstersI’m going to warn you, WEAR THE GLOVES. Unless you want your hands to look like you murdered a unicorn, wear the gloves they provide in the tie-dye kit. You’ll want to wear them while you are applying the dye to the shirt and when you are rinsing the shirts. Trust me, don’t forget.

I really like the swirl look of tie-dying. It’s simple, gives an impressive design every time, and is fairly hard to screw up.

First, lay your camp shirt flat.

Grab the center of the shirt and start twisting in a circle until all the fabric is wrapped around.

Next, take a few rubber bands and secure the shirt. This does 2 things, keeps the shirt from unswirling and gives you little triangles to work with.

Mix up your dye. For the kit I’m using it’s as simple as adding water and shaking until all the dye is dissolved.

Fill in each triangle with a different color.

Place in a plastic bag and let sit at least 6 hours. I like to let ours sit overnight.

Rinse with cold water in the sink with rubber bands still on.

Wash by themselves in the washing machine. I highly suggest doing darks or towels after this just in case there is some residual dye still in your washing machine.

Dry and enjoy!

Once you have your shirts ready it’s time to start camp!

Did you gather all your super hero supplies? Well, put them on! This week we are watching LEGO DC: Shazam! Magic and Monsters. Before we watch our show, we need to get our super hero training on with Batman.

Did you do your training? Are you ready to watch the show??

For those you not familiar, here’s a little back story on the movie –

Shazam! Magic and Monsters10-year-old Billy Batson shouts a single word and, with lightning bolts flashing, he transforms into Shazam!, a full-fledged adult Super Hero. It doesn’t take long for Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and the rest of the Justice League to take notice and invite the earnest do-gooder to join the team. But to become a member, Billy must reveal his true identity. While fighting off the evil Mr. Mind and Black Adam, Billy learns that he must trust others – and that nothing creates trust like helping those in need. Join the good fight with this giant-sized LEGO DC adventure!

LEGO® DC: Shazam! Magic and Monsters is now available to own on Digital, Blu-ray & DVD.
