Who doesn’t like going to fairs? I know we love it! Peyton and I try to take in as many county fairs and the Minnesota State Fair every year. And one of our main things we do there is ……… eat! I think everyone does. Whenever I look around, people have their hand either full of food eating or empty food containers looking for a trash can. George Geary decided to make a cookbook filled with recipes from all over the United States with fair foods! Now, you can make some of your favorite dishes at home and not have to wait for the fair to roll around once a year with Fair Foods by George Geary.
George organized the cookbook into sections based on these popular categories – Drinks, Sweet & Savory Snacks, Fried Everything, The Main Event and Desserts & Treats. I feel those are pretty fair worthy categories!
There are fair foods in here that I have never even heard of! But they had to be good to make it into this book. One of our favorite foods to get at any fair and it’s a fair food stape, is the corn on the cob. It always tastes so darn good! Well, there’s a recipe for it in the book. How about corn dogs? I prefer Pronto Pups but a good corn dog is tasty too. There’s a recipe for the exact same corn dogs that you would buy at Disney World! Been tot he Big Red Wagon on Main Street? Tried a corn dog there? Now you can recreate that same corn dog at home.
As I flipped through the book, earmarking recipes I want to try out, I noticed a little frying pan on each page. In that frying pan is a list of special supplies you’ll need to complete the recipe! It’ll tell you if you need a special pan, tongs, a grill, candy thermometer, paper towels and any other kitchen tool you may need. I really appreciated that, because now I know exactly what pans and tools I need. If I don’t have them I can put them on my grocery list.
If you’re a fan of fair foods you’ll want to check out the Fair Foods by George Geary. It’ll keep your fair cravings satisfied all year long.
