Peyton is spending time in Chicago with family. While it’s nice having a little free time to myself I do not look forward to the drive to go pick her up. It’s about 5-6 hours depending on the weather and traffic. And it feels even longer when you are doing it by yourself. This is one area I need help with. It’s extremely tempting to stop at a gas station and pick up some junk food or pull off the road and hit up a drive thru. But I’m dedicated to my journey so I planned a head. I brought snacks and meals that I could bring with my while on my little solo trip. And I’m going to share my tips with you. So, next time you have a long road trip and need to think about items to bring with you’ll have a few ideas.
Now, I’m going to be honest. Eating vegetables while driving is an amazing idea, but it’s not one that appeals to me. I like to sip on an ice cold beverage, used to be soda, and munch on some chips as I fly down the highway on my way to Chicago. Well, that’s still happening this trip! Just with a few modifications!
This is the first month that I have ordered the Nutrisystem chips and popcorn snacks. I have no clue why it took me so long to do it. But I knew I had a few trips planned so I ordered them to help get me through the month. And I have to admit, they are pretty amazing, especially the white cheddar popcorn!
On my journey, I brought with the white cheddar popcorn and cheese puffs to satisfy my need for junk food. The popcorn is by far my favorite. It’s so darn good! I can not tell the difference between the white cheddar popcorn I buy for Peyton or this. It’s that good. The cheese puffs are pretty good too but they definitely do have more of a crunch to them than the cheese puffs I’m used to. Think of it as more of a crunchy Cheeto and that’s what it’s like. I had my junk food cravings conquered!
As for beverages, I was not going to sabotage myself and pick up a sugar laden soda for this trip. Instead, I brought along a few Sparkling Ice! Did you know they are zero calories? But they give me the fizz I crave. They come in tons of flavors so you’ll be able to find a few you love to cycle through your routine.
And for dinner, I brought along the Fudge Grahm bar. It’s my favorite bar out of all the bars and it really does fill you up. But I will warn you, I find that I drink a whole 16-ounce bottle of water when I’m eating one so be sure to have some water near by.
This is how I stayed on track while driving long distance to pick up Peyton. I also brought enough supplies for the drive home too!
If you are ready to slow down and enjoy life while trying to drop a few pounds, check out Nutrisystem. It’s really made a difference in my life.
