Recently I had the pleasure of spending a little time at the Miramonte Indian Wells Resort in Indian Wells, California. I was extremely excited to stay with the Miramonte for several reasons that I’m going to share with you. But first, a little backstory about the Miramonte. I was surprised to find out it’s owned by Hilton. Hilton has what they call a curio line of boutique hotels, these are unique hotels Hilton has acquired. While the Hilton hospitality and high standards are implemented at these properties each curio property retains its unique individual traits. For the Miramonte, some of those traits include the signature citrus trees that are sprinkled throughout the property, the herb garden in one of the courtyards, the open firepits surrounded by chairs to relax at and more.
When I first arrived at the Miramonte the first thing I noticed was how the mountains are the backdrop to this oasis. You pull up to a stunning southwest style resort nestled in the mountains. Upon entering the lobby you are greeted with a warm welcome by the staff. Once you are checked in, then it’s off through the immaculately manicured courtyards to your room.
As I strolled through the courtyards on my way to my room I noticed these huge firepits surrounded by lounge chairs. I knew that was a place I would be hanging out at during my stay. When I arrived at my building I was surprised by the setup. It’s an open building! Being from the midwest I’ve never encountered a hotel or building with an open hallway, no doors to keep the elements out. But then again, this is California, they don’t get snow or bitter winters like we do here in Minnesota. As I walked down the hallway looking for my room, the cool breeze drifting through the hallway along with the flower petals filling the hallway with a sweet floral fragrance. It was like my own tropical oasis!
When arrived at my room I was ready to freshen up and back to those fire pits! Once inside I did a quick little tour to become familiar with the amenities of my room. There was a king size bed, ample sitting room, desk, a full bathroom as well as a vanity area to apply my makeup in the mornings. But my favorite part of the room was the private patio where I could sip on my morning coffee. There was even a bocci ball pit right outside my door. If Peyton had been with me she would have loved to play bocci ball while I was drinking my coffee or while having after dinner treats on the patio.
After I freshened up, I took a tour of the property. There is a full-service spa at the Miramonte Indian Wells Resort. My first thought was if only I had time to partake in a spa day while here this would be the place I’d want to be. The massage therapists are renowned for their expertise and are in demand, the locals frequently book massages and come in just for the spa services. To me, that’s a sign of a spa I want to visit.
While I walked throughout the Miramont I could tell this was a family orientated resort. They welcome families, the whole family including your dog. I saw a few four-legged family members while I was staying. I also noticed there are lawn games sprinkled throughout the resort, encouraging families to really play and interact with one another. And during the summer months, they have an activities counselor that runs daily children’s activities. And I’ll let you in on a little insider knowledge – they are getting gourmet s’mores kits for you to enjoy by the fire pits! The kits had just been ordered so I’m sure they will be up and running before the holidays.
I also enjoyed a few meals at the restaurant, Citrus & Palm, during my stay. Let me just say, the food was delectable. I don’t believe there was anything left on anyone’s plates when we left. It was that good. The portions were generous, so there was a fair amount of sharing going on in my group. But my favorite part of the meal was the desserts. They served us ice cream sandwiches and a stuffed pineapple filled with coconut gelato, seasonal fruit, and brown butter pineapple. If you do not have time to have a meal at the Citrus & Palm at least make time to stop in for dessert.
My stay with the Miramonte Indian Wells Resort and Spa was very enjoyable. It has everything I am looking for when I travel, comfort, family friendly, great food and welcoming staff. I will definitely be bringing Peyton back with me next time I’m in the area.
