We arrived! It’s our third day in Kentucky and for the next two nights, we are staying at the Country Inn & Suites in Bowling Green. The Country Inn & Suites is a great option for families, with pools, complimentary breakfasts and spacious rooms paired with friendly staff you’ll never want to leave.
Peyton and I arrived in the early afternoon. We were taking a break in between activities and thought we would check in and set up the room before it got too late. The front desk staff is warm and personable, they really went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. From getting us a luggage cart to giving us a rundown of the property they made sure we knew where everything was.
This weekend there were a lot of families staying with them so it was a busy place. Kids were all over the place! But the staff did an amazing job at keeping the cookies always stocked and cleaning up the occasional beverage accident in the hallways.
When we arrived at our room and I opened the door I couldn’t believe how big it was! I guess in the south they really like space. When you first come in the door you are in a little sitting room/living room. Complete with a couch, chair, desk, and television. Peyton couldn’t believe she had a little area that she could escape to and watch tv while she played.
As you moved further into the room, there is a little area set up with a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and sink. This is perfect when traveling with small kids. I immediately stocked the little fridge with Peyton’s milk and snacks. Having that sink is perfect for washing out our water bottles each night.
The bathroom was in between the bedroom and the living space. It was a standard bathroom with the full bathtub, sink, and toilet. Pretty standard.
In the bedroom, we had 2 queen beds, dresser, and another television. This made Peyton super happy because now there were two televisions and she knew she could watch cartoons on one while I watched the news. Overall, I felt like we had a very spacious room, a perfect place to retreat to after a day of sightseeing.
Peyton actually ended up taking over the bedroom and sprawling out on the floor to play with her toys. She really enjoyed hanging out in the room during our down time and so did I. I felt like we each had an area to retreat to and give the other a little space.
Every time we stay at a hotel we have to make time to spend a little time at the pool. And we did that at the Country Inn & Suites in Bowling Green. We took an evening and Peyton enjoyed a little swim time. Though the pool is indoors it is not heated so our swim was cut pretty short. It was a little too chilly for Peyton. However, on a hot summer day, this would be a perfect spot to escape the heat.
A major expense of any vacation is food. It can easily be $100 a day for just the two of us when I add up snacks, 3 meals, and bottled water. When you stay at a Country Inn & Suites breakfast is included in your stay. And they know how to do breakfast! They have everything from pastries to cereal to waffles and usually an egg-based breakfast dish. too. Peyton’s favorite is the hot oatmeal with brown sugar and mine is the make your own waffles. We both look forward to breakfast when we stay.
We did take a little time and check out the library at the Country Inn & Suites but it was pretty well loved. With a hotel full of children there was not much left. But that made me so happy because it means other families are getting their kids to read while on vacation! We always have a few books with us when we travel, right now Peyton is loving the Magic Treehouse series so we had a few of those stashed in her bag for her to read. Each Country Inn & Suites that we have stayed at, has always had a little library in the lobby area with books for all ages, from pictures books to novels. All complimentary for you to use while you stay with them. So if you forgot to bring a bedtime story just head down to the lobby and pick one out.
We had a relaxing stay with the staff at the Country Inn & Suites in Bowling Green Kentucky. They were so helpful and anticipated our every need. They even gave us some great restaurant recommendations too! Someone was always there to greet us when we came in and say goodbye when we left. They definitely make you feel like family while you’re there.
