Finally! Finding Dory is here. After all those years of waiting and wishing for a movie just about Dory, it’s arrived. Peyton and I took in Finding Dory a few days before opening night and we were knocked off our feet impressed with how spectacular it is!
Rarely, can a sequel stand on it’s own or surpass the original. Finding Dory does just that. Be sure to get to the theater early so you don’t miss the opening. There is the most adorable baby seagull story you will not want to miss. Here’s a little teaser. I fell in love with baby Piper and now I want a baby bird!
Finding Dory really is a movie that can stand alone. So if you’re kids have not seen Finding Nemo don’t stress it. Go and see Finding Dory and catch up with Finding Nemo later on.
In Finding Dory, Dory starts to remember her family! And so Dory, Marlin and Nemo set off to find Dory’s mom and dad. One of my favorite moments from Dory’s memories is when she’s a baby. It’s one of her earliest memories with her parents and they are rehearsing what Dory says when she meets new friends. My favorite line is from a song her dad teaches her to try and keep her safe. “We see the under tow and we say – Let’s go!” Obviously, this is not what her parents meant.

Throughout the movie, Dory has memory flashes of her childhood and how she became separated from her mom and dad. Dory makes a few new friends when she returns to her home looking for her mom and dad. Hank, a crazy septapus (he lost one of his legs), helps Dory find her way to the exhibit she grew up in. Bailey, a beluga whale, helps Dory find her way in the tunnels. And Dory is reunited with a childhood friend, Destiny, a whale shark.
We found Finding Dory to be an engaging, emotional and rewarding experience. Peyton was engaged the whole movie. Not once did her gaze break with the screen. Because I’m a parent and sometimes a tad emotional I found a few moments to be very touching and had to look away.
We give Finding Dory two thumbs up! I highly recommend seeing this one on the big screen. I think children of all ages are going to love this film. Finding Dory is playing nationwide in theaters.
