Holiday DIY Projects are on the Horizon

Peyton's Momma Product DisclosureI know school has either just started or will be starting in the next week for most.  But I am already starting to think about the holidays. I’m not sure if it’s because we are going to be spending time in Disney World in December so my holiday time is going to be crunched or because I cannot wait to start getting my arts and crafts together. Last year I saw a bunch of craft ideas on Pinterest that I wanted to try out. But many of them needed clear glass ornaments. Try finding clear glass ornaments in November. Or even the first week of December. It’s nearly impossible! And if you do find them I swear they raise the prices and they cost a lot. Glass OrnamentsThis year, I’m getting a jump start on my holiday crafts. I have a dozen clear ball ornaments that I am going to turn into something. I haven’t decided exactly what I’m going to do with them. I have two ideas in mind. I may turn them into a dozen snowman ornaments and keep them for our own tree. That way Peyton will have a memory of making our own ornaments and then when she’s an adult she can take them to her home and have a memory of her childhood. Or I may use them to make little orbs of hot cocoa to give as gifts. These ornaments are perfect for either idea.

The reason I am choosing to use these ornaments for my project ideas is because of the quality of the ornaments. The glass is somewhat thick, not fragile like some glass ornaments. From normal handling I’m not concerned about these shattering. Some glass ornaments are so thin that the slightest amount of pressure can cause them to break. Not with these. I also like the secure tops. I really had to apply pressure to the clasp and wiggle it out. No need to worry about these falling off the tree. And the top is smooth. When the topper is taken off the glass is a smooth opening, about the size of a dime. These will be perfect for pouring cocoa into. I can even get a few mini marshmallows in!

Whatever I do with these ornaments you will see later on, here on the blog. I just need to focus on getting Peyton into first grade and getting our routine on. Then I’ll be at it, making holiday crafts and sharing my ideas with you. But if you think you may want to make one of the projects I mentioned above I highly suggest you purchase your ornaments now. Come November these will be hard to find.
