Jinx happily crunches them whole, but Ellie prefers hers broken into bite-sized pieces before she’ll enjoy them.

Homemade Salmon Cat Treats Recipe

Ingredients

10 ounces canned salmon (packed in water, undrained)
1 large egg, beaten
2 cups whole wheat flour

Important: Use whole wheat flour rather than all-purpose flour. Whole wheat flour is generally considered a better option for homemade pet treats because it provides more fiber and nutrients. As with any homemade treat, offer them in moderation and check with your veterinarian if your cat has dietary restrictions or food sensitivities.

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Move the oven rack to the center position.

Step 2

Pour the canned salmon, including the liquid, into a food processor.

Blend until the salmon is smooth and finely chopped.

Step 3

Add the following ingredients to the bowl of a stand mixer:

Blended salmon
Whole wheat flour
Beaten egg

Mix until a soft dough forms.

If the dough seems too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time.

If it’s sticky, sprinkle in a little more whole wheat flour until it’s easy to handle.

Step 4

Lightly flour a clean countertop.

Roll the dough out until it’s approximately ¼-inch thick.

Simply slice the dough into small squares or triangles with a butter knife or pizza cutter.

Whenever I’m baking something in the kitchen, Ellie somehow knows before anyone else.
