Hugs and Kisses Cocoa Bombs

With Valentine’s Day coming up soon I thought we would create a hugs and kisses cocoa bomb. These make great teacher gifts, Valentine’s Day gifts and are fun to enjoy with the kids.

Hugs and Kisses Cocoa BombsTo make a batch of Hugs and Kisses Cocoa Bombs you will need the following –

12oz Bag White Candy Melts
1 Tbsp Hot Chocolate Per Bomb
Mini Marshmallows
White icing
XoXo Candies
Sphere Silicone Mold

If the XOXO candies are sold out online you can usually find them at Wal-Mart, Michaels, or JoAnns.  If these particular sphere molds are sold out feel free to buy a different brand. They’ll work just as well.

First, you are going to take a microwave safe bowl and pour the candy melts into it.  Then place the bowl in the microwave and heat for 30 seconds or until melts have fully melted. Be sure to stir the candy melts after each 30-second heating to avoid scorching your chocolate.

Once the chocolate is melted and smooth it’s time to spread it in the mold. Pour a little bit of chocolate in the molds and spread the chocolate up the sides. You can use the back of a spoon or a brush to do this.

Let the molds sit for about 5 minutes. Then re-spread any of the candy melts that sank to the bottom of the molds.

Find a flat space in the refrigerator and place the molds in there for about 30-45 minutes.

Once set the molds have set up, carefully remove the candy melt spheres from the mold. Gently pull the mold back from the chocolate and work the sphere out of the mold by pulling on the sides and gently pushing up from the bottom.

Place a glass plate in the microwave and heat for one minute. Be sure this is a microwave-safe plate.

Hugs and Kisses Cocoa BombsRemove the plate and immediately and place half of the chocolate spheres, edge side down on the hot place to heat the edges and melt them until they are smooth.

Fill one of the half spheres with the hot cocoa powder and marshmallows. If using prepacked cocoa pour one pouch in the sphere and place your desired amount of marshmallows in too.

Repeat the above step of melting the edges on the spheres that are not filled with cocoa.

Place each heated sphere on each filled sphere. You can use the tip of your finger to smooth the melted candy around the seam.

Use the icing as glue to add the xoxo’s to the bomb.

Then, Enjoy!

Store the cocoa bombs in a dry place in an airtight container. I like to store ours in individual baggies so they are easy to take with or just grab one when we need it.
