Can you believe they released Ice Age 5? It’s the 5th installment in the Ice Age franchise. It seems like just yesterday the first Ice Age was released. I love the tagline for this Ice Age – Kiss Your Ice Goodbye. But the real title for the movie is Ice Age: Collision Course.
So what happens in this Ice Age? Well, Scrat is still chasing that silly acorn. And, like every other movie, that silly acorn gets Scrat in a heap of trouble. This time, Scrat ends up chasing the acorn into outer-space. And while Scrat is chasing this Acorn around space he sets off a massive meteor shower! One that could end life on Earth as Manny and the crew know it.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, Many (Ray Romano) and Ellie (Queen Latifah) and getting ready for Peaches(Keke Palmer) to get married! Can you believe it? It seems like just yesterday Peaches was born, and now she’s moving away and getting married. While they are making plans for the future, none of them are aware of the meteor shower heading towards them.
Out of nowhere comes Buck (Simon Pegg), the crazy one-eyed weasel from Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Side note – I just love him! He’s crazy, wild, unpredictable and comical. Buck has figured out why the meteors are cruising towards Earth and he needs Manny and the crews help.
We see the whole gang work together to stop the meteors from reaching Earth. We also get to meet a new bunch of characters that are 09just as charming and quirky as the rest.
Peyton really enjoyed Ice Age: Collision Course. She was giggling more than once throughout the movie. I liked Ice Age 5 because it’s made for the whole family. There are jokes the parents will get that the children will miss. Same for references to moments only adults understand. While at the same time not sacrificing any of the entertainment value for the kids.
Ice Age: Collision Course is playing in theaters nationwide. Check your local listings for times.
