Inches Loss Matter Too

Nutrisystem DisclosureWe have been traveling a lot this past month. From Universal Studios in Florida to a few Minnesota based trips and I haven’t been seeing much weight loss. I was starting to get discouraged. I’m staying on plan and I am getting a lot of exercise on these trips as they are mostly all walking. My average miles per day this past month has been 7 1/2 miles. A day! But yet my weight loss has been about 1/2 pound a week. So this week I decided to check in and see how many inches I have lost. And boy was I surprised!

When I started this journey on April 10th my measurements were –

Chest        44 inches

Waist        53 inches

Hips          47 inches

Arms         16 inches

Thighs       26 inches

Neck         15 1/2 inches

I don’t measure myself often, mostly because I’m busy and I forget to. But this weekend I really needed to get some perspective so I searched for my measuring tape and took some measurements. Boy, was I shocked! Though I had not been losing weight I had been losing inches!

These are my measurements today –

Chest         42 inches

Waist         39 inches

Hips           42 inches

Arms          14 inches

Thighs        23 inches

Neck           14 inches

That’s some big time improvement! I knew that my waist had been getting smaller because my jeans had been fitting so much better. No longer did they hurt by mid day. You know that feeling, where they are pressing so much on your belly that you just want to undo that top button? Nope, not anymore! I had no clue about my arms. When we travel and it’s hot I wear tank tops so I had no clue that my arms had lost 2 inches! That’s so awesome!! I’m hoping when I go holiday dress shopping it’ll be easier to find some dresses with sleeves that fit now.

This was the exact motivation that I needed. When I stepped on the scale this morning it was down a 1/2 pound again. Boo! But then I just pulled up my Numi ap with my measurements and looked at the numbers again. That kept me going.

With all the exercise I have been doing I have been building muscle while losing fat. Well, muscle weighs more than fat. That’s why I’m not seeing the improvement as much in the scale. But I am seeing it in my measurements! Look at that waist number again! I still cannot get over that. I’ve been wearing dresses most of the summer too so now I’m thinking I may need to hit the store and see what a smaller pant size looks like on me.

If you are ready to slow down and enjoy life while trying to drop a few pounds, check out Nutrisystem. It’s really made a difference in my life.
