Living in the United States makes it hard to find much with Peppa Pig and her family on it. Though I will say over the past year I have started to see more of it. Peyton has been in love with Peppa, George and all her friends for years. We’ve watched every single episode more than once and I can even recite a few them from memory. But beyond the television and few stray toys here and there that has pretty much been it. Until…..Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig’s Big Splash decided to tour the US. Oh how exciting for all those little boys and girls that enamoured with Peppa just like Peyton! And then the excited level went up ten fold in our home when I found out Peppa Pig Live! was stopping in the Twin Cities. Could it be? They were going to be performing just a half hour away?? Yes they were!
When the big day came Peyton was very excited. She could not wait to see Peppa Pig and all of Peppa’s friends and family on stage. We tried to to make a day of it with Peyton’s best friend. We took the girls out to an early dinner/late lunch and then off to the show we went. It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining and there were two giddy 5 year olds on thier way to see Peppa Pig! When we arrived the girls could not wait for us to park the car and head inside. Once inside we headed directly to our seats. There really was nothing for concessions and very little merchandise which is a good and bad thing for this age group. On one hand having a show at 5:30 is prime dinner time and limited concessions did cause a strain when it came to intermission. On the other hand not being bombarded with a slew of trinkets/souvenirs and more was nice too. The show is geared towards younger children and not having to deal with the tantrum or constantly saying no was nice too.
Now it was time for the show. What a blast! The first part was a little over a half hour which was perfect for the little ones. Peppa Pig and all her friends were there telling us a wonderful story. The puppets and puppeteers were spectacular. Peppa, George and her friends all had puppeteers that we could see while watching the show. But not one child seemed to notice. The voices and movements were spot on so the kids were instantly swept up in the story. Daddy Pig and the larger characters had puppeteers inside suits so you did not see them. After the first act there was a short intermission. Then on to the second act which was also roughly 30 minutes we got to witness a muddy puddle jumping contest! The people in the first few rows also got to experience the aftermath of a muddy puddle jumping contest. Thankfully we were far enough back that we stayed dry. So just a little tip for those with littles that would be freaked out if they got wet.
We had a blast at Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig’s Big Splash. Both girls were thrilled they could see thier favorite characters live on stage. If you have a little one that is a huge fan of Peppa Pig I highly suggest checking out the touring schedule and seeing if you can catch a show.
