Peyton and I are avid readers so I have decided to do a June summer reading list for fourth graders of some of the books we have enjoyed or are on our reading list. Here are 5 books that we feel would be perfect for a fourth grader that loves to read.
The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling
From the Back Cover
John Midas loves chocolate. He loves it so much that he′ll eat it any hour of any day. He doesn′t care if he ruins his appetite. He thinks chocolate is better than any other food! But one day, after wandering into a candy store and buying a piece of their best chocolate, John finds out that there might just be such a thing as too much chocolate. . . .
This is a story about John Midas, his love of chocolate and a play on the King Midas touch. Except for turning everything to gold that he touches he turns it to chocolate.

That is, until she meets Wishbone, a skinny stray dog who captures her heart, and Howard, a neighbor boy who proves surprising in lots of ways.
