Movie Countdown for Your Next Universal Vacation – Islands of Adventure

Have an upcoming vacation planned to Univeral Orlando? Looking for a fun way to count down the days and get excited about your visit? If you said yes, then I have the movie countdown list for you! Each movie is represented in Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Orlando. Watch a new movie each night to get excited about the rides and excited about your trip!

Movie Countdown for your next Universal VacationFirst up, Island of Adventures! We love this park because it feels like you are walking into distinct little lands as your wander through the park. Once you get through the main gate you have a few options, do a little shopping in one of the stores, grab a Starbucks or start your journey by taking either a left or a right. We always head right so the first land we come to is Suess Landing!

Suess Landing

Suess Landing is full of rides for the littles. But the rides also fit us big kids too!  This land is themed all things, Dr. Suess. From Cat in the Hat to The Grinch you’ll find all of your beloved Dr. Suess characters here. To kick off our time in Seuss Landing we are going to be watching Illumination Presents: Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch. It’s a great one to start off with!

Some other movies that would go well in the countdown that are Dr. Suess-themed would be the following –

Dr. Suess’ Horton Hears a Who

Dr. Suess’ The Lorax

Dr. Suess’ Cat in the Hat

The Lost Continent

Movie Countdown for your next Universal VacationThe Lost Continent is a small land with 1 ride and 1 phenomenal restaurant. There is also an interactive water fountain that will talk to you if you take a moment to talk to it. To gear up for Poseidon’s Fury I would suggest watching the following movies, it’ll get the kids interested in Greek Mythology and get them excited for this land.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Theif

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade

Once you are through the Lost Continent next up is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. This land is connected to the other Harry Potter land that is located in Universal Studios Orlando. But I’m going to include all the Harry Potter movies under this land. I have a lineup of movies to suggest for the other land so don’t worry.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

Jurassic Park

Once you leave The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade you will be walking right into Jurassic Park! This is one of our favorite lands to spend time in. And to get your kiddos excited for Jurassic Park there are so many options!

If you have younger kids I would suggest the series on Netflix – Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It’s more kids friendly and not as intense as some of the movies.

For the older kids, I would suggest all six movies –

Jurrasic Park

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park III

Jurassic World

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Jurassic World Dominion

Skull Island: Rise of Kong

Movie Countdown for your next Universal VacationSkull Island: Rise of Kong is a smaller land with 1 ride – Skull Island: Rise of Kong. There’s a little shopping but I would say this is one of the smaller lands. But I would watch the following –

Kong: Skull Island

Toon Lagon

Toon Lagon is a good size area that is perfect for kids of all ages. There is plenty of space for them to run around and get the wiggles out. There is shopping, last time we were there this is where we found a fair amount of Secret Life of Pets merchandise too. They have both a water ride and rides that will keep you dry. But to gear up for Toon Lagoon, I would watch any of the following –

Popeye: 33 Cartoon Classics

Cartoon Classics – Vol. 1: 25 Favorite Cartoons

Marvel Super Hero Island

This is the last land for Islands of Adventure. But there are so many Super Heroes represented in this land! I feel like the primary focus is Spider-man but you’ll also see Captain America and The Hulk just to name a few.

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Hulk

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The First Avenger

So that wraps up our suggested movies for Islands of Adventure! These movies will get your family excited about their next visit. Be sure to check back for our list about Universal Studios Orlando and what movies we suggest to watch before your next visit.
