New Year, New Routine: Getting Control Back In Your Mom Life

Life can be very busy as a mom. It seems that not only might you have a job to commit to, or children to look after, but the household chores are left for you to organize. Not only that but you also possibly need to control the logistics and everything else in between. It is exhausting, to say the least. However, as the year ended, you may have felt like you had lost control of your routine and life in general, it happens to the very best of us, which is why a new year, a new month or the start of a new season is always a great opportunity to press the reset switch and start again. If you feel like doing this now, then here are some of the things you can implement to get some control back in your life.

Plan ahead

Sometimes it is important for you to start planning, not just your day or your week, but planning for the month and even the year ahead. It isn’t just about planning for the school pickups and the extra curricular activities you children have, it’s about managing vacation time, and preparing for time at home. Such as during the long summer break, knowing that things like your air conditioning is working, and having an air conditioning repair service number on standby. It’s about ensuring that your central heating is working for winter, your gutters are cleared for heavy rainfall, and so on. Planning can really help you gain control back, and even if you spend a little bit of time each week, thinking about your week or month and spending time to schedule in those yearly chores that need to be done, you will feel much better for it.

Sever's Corn MazeAccept that things won’t always go to plan

Planning is great, and so important, but at the same time, you need to introduce cute a level of flexibility in your life, especially as a mom. There will be times when things don’t go according to your plan and schedule. Children can become ill, you may have to change plans because of work commitments, or things change because of other members of your family. Your day may be planned, but then the weather causes you an issue, or you suddenly need to do something else. Accepting that things may need to be changed, helps you to come to terms with it. You don’t get stressed, you just think of a way to carry on.

Shortcuts and hacks can really help

Finally, don’t be afraid to take on a mom hack or shortcut to get things done quicker or more easily. It’s ok to plan a meal, batch cook, for those lazy nights where you can’t be bothered. There are so many ways that you can make life easier on yourself, and hacks not only get things done, but they can be huge time savers as well. Leaving you more time to do the things you want to do and what matter to you most.

Let’s hope these tips help you to get control back in your mom life.
