The Polar Express Movie Party at the Alamo Drafthouse

As life gets crazy and our schedules become packed full of work obligations, school obligations, doctor appointments and all sorts of other appointments I try to make sure I carve out time to spend with Peyton. A little one on one time with mom or dad is what every kid needs. With the shortened holiday season this year I know December is going to be a crazy busy month. So to kick off the holiday season Peyton and I went to the Polar Express Movie Party at the Alamo Drafthouse Twin Cities.

Polar Express Movie PartyPeyton and I discovered the Alamo Drafthouse this summer and have been spending a fair amount of time with them since. I love their big comfy recliners and huge screens. Plus, with their rules on no cell phones or loud people, it really is a nice place to see a movie. Another highlight of seeing a movie at Alamo Drafthouse is their staff. The staff is always there to answer questions, refill your drinks and take your order. Did I mention they have a full menu? Including a full bar? It’s all delivered right to your table!

Polar Express Movie PartyEvery month the Alamo Drafthouse puts on a selection of movie parties. In December, it’s packed full of holiday favorites and classics, like The Polar Express Movie Party. Tickets for some movie tickets can be a little pricier than others but the Polar Express movie party ticket was $12 ish plus tax.  Each movie party comes with select party favors that you get to use during the movie. For The Polar Express movie party, we received train whistles, Santa hats, Polar Express tickets, and a sleigh bell. Plus there was a special menu with 2 specialty shakes! A frozen hot chocolate shake and a candy cane shake. Peyton really struggled with which one to order but she settled on the frozen hot chocolate shake.

We always arrive about 20 minutes before the movie so we can get settled, put our credit card on file with our server and order up some treats. Today we ordered up yummy shakes and appetizers! Be sure to ask your server for a glass of water too, they do not automatically bring one. Since we had shakes I knew we may need a little water to help with the sweetness. Also, ask for straws if you want one, it’s hit or miss if they bring them with drinks.

This was my first time seeing The Polar Express and Peyton’s third time. It really is one of those holiday classics that is a must-see on the big screen. We had a great time blowing our train whistle at the same time the train was blowing its whistle, ringing the sleigh bell anytime we heard or saw Santa’s sleigh and waving our tickets in the air.

There are dozens of movie parties this month at Alamo Drafthouse. Be sure to check out their calendar for a full listing. I know Peyton are already set to see Elf and The Grinch that Stole Christmas too!
