As a busy mom, I am always looking for cookbooks that offer me real meal ideas that I can sit down and share with my daughter. Siriously Delicious by Siri Daly is filled with 100 nutritious and not so nutritious simple recipes for the real home cook. Or at least that’s what the tagline says.
I really like how the book is full of colored photographs of the finished recipes. I’m a very visual person and having the ability to see what the dish will look like finished does a few things for me. First, it gives me something to try to aim for as I am creating it. Secondly, I can tell just by looking at it if it is something my daughter will eat. She’s a very adventurous eater but there are few things we stay away from. Also, with her sensory issues, food textures can be a big trigger so being able to see what foods are in the dish help me gage if she’s going to be open to it.
Siriously Delicious is broken into six chapters –
One – Wakey Wakey!
These are all breakfast dishes. From smoothie bowls to pancakes to egg-in-hole avocado toast (which I cannot wait to try making) there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Two- Halftime
Chapter two is all about lunchtime. There’s a nice mix of salads, soups and sandwiches that are a little lighter for you to enjoy at lunchtime.
Three – It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere
Just like the title teases, this all about the cocktail hour.
Four – Time for Dinner
Filled with dinner options from pasta to roasted chickens to one pot dishes. There are meat-free options as well as poultry and beef. It’s a very well rounded dinner selection.
Five – Sidekicks
This is going to be side dishes that you can pair with other recipes throughout the book.
Six – Sweet Treats
This is my daughter’s favorite chapter. It’s all about treats! Cakes, cookies and bars!
