If you have never had the totchos at the Minnesota State Fair then you are missing out! It’s in the coliseum and one of our first stops after we pass through the gates. I decided to make these at home with my favorite taco meat and see how they turned out. Oh my yum! They are delicious! They are filling, packed with flavor and a taco lovers dish for sure.
To make these State Fair Taco Totchos you will need the following –
Tater Tots
Taco Meat (I used my favorite taco meat recipe but you can use any taco meat recipe you like)
Salsa
Tomatoes
Cheese
Lettuce
Onions
Sour Cream
Additional preferred toppings
Bake a sheet full of tater tots per the directions on the package.
Prepare your taco meat while the tater tots are cooking.
Once the tater tots are finished, remove them from the oven and plate them. You will want to make a nice base of tater tots on the plate.
Next, if you want you can use a cheese sauce. Pour a little cheese sauce over the totchos.
Top with your prepared taco meat.
Add shredded cheese, sour cream, and your preferred toppings.
Enjoy!
These are a hit with the kids. I mean, what kid doesn’t like tater tots? or tacos? You are combing two of their favorite foods into one.
Don’t forget to check back tomorrow to see what Minnesota State Fair inspired food we are making. Also, be sure to check out our other state fair recipes.
