Even though summer is coming to an end, we are not slowing down! Peyton and I are still attending fall festivals, taking hikes and we have a few vacations planned before Christmas. One of our trips is going to involve a lot hiking, even though it’s fall, staying hydrated is still a large concern. Hydration backpacks are perfect for this!
The Arctic Current makes a hydration backpack that holds 2L of water. It comes in two colors, blue or gray. Peyton picked out the blue one because this week blue is her favorite color!
As I was getting this ready for our first use I noticed a few things. There is extra padding on the shoulder and hip area. This will help ease any strain or pressure points from carrying the water around all day. The straps are mesh! That will help keep you from getting warm while wearing the hydration pack. And there is even some reflective material on the straps. So if you are walking through a wooded area or side of the road people passing by will see a reflection and notice you.
The bladder is fully removable. You can use the backpack with or without the bladder. However, I would only use it with the bladder. There is a guard over the straw. I really liked this for two reasons – 1. It will help keep the mouthpiece clean and free from bacteria. 2. It will keep the water from dripping all over while walking around.
Peyton wore the hydration pack around the yard and on a short walk today. I wanted to see how comfortable she felt wearing. And to my surprise she wore it the whole time with not one complaint! Peyton said the pack was comfortable, she liked having her hands free from a water bottle and she thought it was cool to be able to sip out of straw at any time she wanted to.
