If you are a fan of the Nutcracker Ballet then you are going to want to keep on reading. Or even if you enjoyed The Nutcracker and the Four Realms I know you’ll want to keep reading. The Enchanted Sonata is loosely based off of the classic The Nutcracker ballet. Similar to how The Nutcracker and the Four Realms was loosely based off the ballet but yet had its own unique storyline.
Here’s the what the book says The Enchanted Sonata is about –
Clara Stahlbaum has her future perfectly planned: marry the handsome pianist, Johann Kahler (ah!), and settle down to a life full of music. But all that changes on Christmas Eve, when Clara receives a mysterious and magical nutcracker.
Whisked away to his world–an enchanted empire of beautiful palaces, fickle fairies, enormous rats, and a prince–Clara must face a magician who uses music as spells…and the future she thought she wanted.
So we have some of our classic Nutcracker characters like Clara, though this time she seems to an adult. An adult that is about to marry. Clara always seems to be an older teen in most of the stories so this is not very far fetched for me. It’s a storyline that I can roll with.
I found The Enchanted Sonata to be a fun twist on a classic tale of The Nutcracker. It’s a new storyline with beloved characters taking a new road to find a new destiny. I really enjoyed reading the story and cannot wait to see what Heather Dixon Wallwork comes out with next.
You can purchase your own copy of The Enchanted Sonata by Heather Dixon Wallwork online or at your local bookstore.
