When I first think of Kia, I think of an economical small car. But they are so much more! Kia has a few different SUVs to choose from. I’m going to tell you a little about the Kia SUV line up and then you can decide for yourself if you want to head to your local dealership and take a test drive.
Kia Sorento
I think this is the most common Kia SUV you hear about. It’s a beautiful vehicle with sleek lines that draw you in. The interior is rated one of nicest in its class of SUVs. There is also a very user-friendly infotainment, meaning you can listen to music via radio, satellite, CD and more. It has a very smooth ride and the first two rows of seat are extremely comfortable. Combine that with the low price tag and you can see why it’s one of the most popular SUVs.
The Kia Sorento can fit up to 7 passengers when the third row is in use. Otherwise, it’s a comfortable 5 passenger with a roomy cargo area. I like having that option to add the third row when needed. You never know when you’ll have to transport a whole bunch of kids from one soccer field to another!
Kia Niro
The Kia Niro is classified as a compact hybrid crossover SUV, though some may say it really functions more like a hatchback. The biggest thing that the Niro has going against it being loved as an SUV is there is no option for AWD which is one of the main features most SUV owners are looking for. I know I was. However, it is loved because it does not scream hybrid and looks sleek while being capable of returning up to an EPA-estimated 50 mpg in combined city/highway driving! So there are some perks to this Niro.
Another drawback of the Niro is it fits 5, but remember this is a subcompact SUV. So it’s not going to fit 7+ people like the larger Sorento. There is a very generous cargo area which is perfect for bringing Fido along on road trips! And the 2018 Hybrid model has a plug-in option.
Kia Sportage
The Kia Sportage is your more traditional compact SUV. But the engine size is smaller than the Sorento so keep that in mind when deciding which Kia SUV to buy. The Sportage has room for 5 passengers and a smaller cargo area. However, I have read rave reviews when it comes to taller drivers being comfortable in the Sportage. It’s pretty important for the driver to be comfortable so it’s nice to know that the Sportage works well for those taller people.
This is the Kia SUV lineup. I can say, the Sorento would be my go-to SUV out of these three. I like the extra space. And since I have dogs and a kid I could use the extra seating and large cargo area. Which one would you want to test drive?
