Peyton and I do a fair amount of traveling throughout the year with a large part of it from June to October. Whenever I consider a new place to visit I start to look for family-friendly things to do. Something kid friendly but yet the adults will still enjoy. If you are heading to Waterford, Pennsylvania this summer I have a few must do/see attractions for you and your family to enjoy.
Sunset Drive-In Theater
If you have never been to a drive-in with your kids you need to pick a night and do it while in Waterford. It is one of the best ways to spend a summer night together as a family. There are usually 2-3 movies shown for the price of one! Plus you can bring all your own snacks in which saves a ton of money. And the kids can make the trunk into a huge comfy space for everyone to lean back, relax and enjoy the movies. This is something Peyton and I love doing in the summer, there’s nothing like spending a night at the drive-in.
Erie Zoo
Just located a short drive outside of Waterford the Erie Zoo is a must do while in town. Whenever we visit a new area, Peyton and I love taking in the local zoo. Not every zoo has the same animals or even similar exhibits. They have a large variety of animals starting with Alpacas and ending with Zebus! The Erie Zoo can be a full day adventure so be sure to pack some snacks and sunscreen, but if you forget, don’t worry! There are shops and eateries at the zoo as well.
Goodell Gardens
If you like gardens then you’ll want to make some time to check out Goodell Gardens in Edinborough, a short drive from Waterford. This botanical garden and arboretum has a mission of educating it’s visitors while exploring 78-acres of gardens. It’s a wonderful way to spend the afternoon strolling through beautiful gardens while the kids are learning a thing or two.
