This fair even has a Ice Cube Queen, though her lips where blue. Not sure if that’s from the cold or maybe a little lipstick? The fair had so much for everyone to do even a slip and slide and a burlap sack race! But the one event everyone had been waiting for was the ice block carving contest.
Now the rules were simple – Everyone had 7 hours and needed to carve what Christmas meant to them. Everyone was excited! They couldn’t wait to get to started. The time passed by quickly and when it was done there were various ice sculptures ready to be judged. There were various sculptures some of a Christmas feast, others of trophies, of angels and one of a teeny tiny manger scene. The winner was declared! But I won’t tell you who. You’ll have to read the book to find out.
We really enjoyed the Yuletide Ice Cube Fair. I loved how there was lots of rhyming, as a parent it makes it a little more fun to read a book that rhymes. The illustrations are very bright and colorful. Your child is sure to recognize their favorite VeggieTales characters. I also like how the story ended, it wasn’t about whose sculpture was the biggest but whose had the most meaning. It’s a wonderful way to remind children that even small gestures can have large impacts.
