Our family likes to travel by car. We like having the freedom to get and go whenever we want. And we also like to be able to make detours or side trips at our discretion. You can’t do that if you’re on a tour! Today we are going to share with you 3 of our favorite Minnesota destinations that are perfect for a family road trip.
Taylor Falls
Taylor Falls is one of our favorite places to head out to for the day. There is so much to do! Every time we go, we have a different experience. It’s one of those places that you can go to over and over again and never experience the same thing exactly the same. From camping to water parks to spend the day at Fawnderosa there is something for everyone in the family to do.
Soudan Underground Mine State Park
I have fond childhood memories of going to Soudan Underground Mine State Park. It’s a fascinating place to take your family. Peyton and I love exploring caves and caverns when we are on vacations so this is on my list for us to take in this year. At Soudan Underground Mine State Park you can take a guided tour down into the mine! How cool is that? You’ll hear the history of the mine and learn a little bit about what and why the mine is where it is. But remember to bring a light sweatshirt, it gets cool in the mine.
Boundary Waters Canoe Area
Another destination from my childhood. I love spending time in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. There is so much to do! And it’s a great place to get in touch with nature and just unplug from the world. From hiking to canoeing to camping they have a nature-filled weekend or day for you. If camping is not for you, no worries, they have plenty of resorts you can stay at too. The scenery is breathtaking and you’ll want to stay for at least a sunset and sunrise.
These are just a few of the place I love to take road trips too in Minnesota.
