Peyton and I love taking road trips throughout the United States. My dream is to have taken her through all 48 lower states by the time she goes to college. But she’s already 8 years old! So that means I really need to start working on this list! I’m going to share 5 of my favorite tips for making sure your vehicle is road trip ready.
1 – Oil changes! Make sure you keep on these. I try to get in as close to 3,000 miles as I can. Sometimes I’m good at it other times we’re over a little. But I always make sure to get an oil change before a major trip by heading to my Dodge Dealership.
2 – Routine maintenance – Keep up on it. Every time I take my car in for an oil change I have them do a quick once over with our Dodge Journey. If something needs to be taken care of I do it before our trip.
3 – Tires – Be sure to be aware of how much tread you have on your tires and what your upcoming trips are. This month I am heading to Chicago for a convention and then next month we are heading to Branson, Missouri. I will be getting tires when we get back from Branson before the winter snow hits.
4 – Keep your car clean – Take care of your car inside and out. A clean car is a happy car! And a happy mom. At least for this family that is the case.
5 – Insurance – Be sure to have your most recent insurance card in your glove box and another copy in your wallet. You never know when you’ll need it. I also have AAA and I make sure that card is always in the cubby on my dash. So far, I’ve only used it to get discounts at Sea World, but I always have it nearby just in case.
These are just a few tips to help make sure your vehicle is ready for your next road trip.
