9 Gift Ideas for Boys

At some point during the year, the time will come to buy a gift for a nephew, cousin, brother, son or grandson. It could be for his birthday, Christmas or even some significant achievement, like 6th-grade graduation. Sometimes buying for boys can be difficult. There are so many choices out there!

Not to worry. We’re here to help you find the gift that the young boy in your life will love. Here are some great gift ideas for any child.

Minecraft Game

These days there’s a lot of concern from parents that kids are spending too much time in front of screens. They should be out in the world finding out how things work. But some games involve just as much creativity and exploration as real life activities. The best example of this is the game of Minecraft. Minecraft is like a big sandbox where you can create pretty much any game experience you like. Kids love the game because it allows them to design an infinite number of scenarios, adventures and virtual universes. And that’s why it makes such a great gift. It’s fun for young ones, but it also engages their intellect.

Drones

Like Minecraft, drones facilitate creativity. You may have heard about the fuss in the media about drones flying over airports. But the vast majority of people who own drones, including children, know how to use them responsibly. Just be sure to be aware of the restrictions in your area. I know where I live we have to register a drone when it hits a certain size.

Drones are an incredible present for a number of reasons. First off, they’re just plain fun to fly. Like remote control cars of yesteryear, they’re exciting to use. But drones offer a lot more than just that. For instance, many modern drones now come equipped with cameras. Cameras that fly up hundreds of opportunities for young kids to experiment. In other words, they are a profoundly powerful photography tool. And one that opens up many possibilities for creativity and flair. You can read more about the best drones on sale at www.complex.com.

Baseball Gear

We often hear a lot about the fact that kids don’t get out enough these days. So what better way to get them active that to give them a baseball kit. Baseball equipment has been a staple of the American childhood since time immemorial. And it’s a gift that is much an heirloom as it is a tool for playing sport.

But, as with drones, there are a lot of choices out there. And that means that it can be confusing what exactly to get. Sites like http://www.thebaseballdiamond.com/ review all the best baseball equipment. So don’t worry if you don’t know right now exactly what you should get.

Nvidia Shield Portable

Nvidia is famous for making graphics hardware for video games. But now they’ve come out with their own games console. It’s called the Nvidia Shield Portable. And it’s like a Gameboy of old, except with far better performance. We all know how much young boys love gaming on PCs and games consoles. But the Nvidia Shield makes gaming portable. That means that it’s perfect for keeping boys entertained on long car journeys. And it’s great for getting kids outside in the garden.

Nintendo 3DS XL

Not to be outdone by the likes of Nvidia, Nintendo has released their own new portable console. Nintendo has a younger target audience in mind with their devices. And so if the boy you know is young, then perhaps the Nintendo is the best option. What’s great about the Nintendo console is that it’s able to play all the classic favorites. The young boy in your life will have no problem playing the latest Mario on this device.

Model Kit

Now that it’s summer, young boys have a lot more time on their hands. Finally, the school year is drawing to a close, and they’re able to pursue new activities. But with all that time on their hands, what should they do? Build their own model, of course.

Model building has been a staple of childhood for decades. And it’s great for many reasons. For starters, it’s time-consuming. It takes hours, if not days, of careful work to assemble a model of, say a Star Destroyer. But it’s also great because it gives those who complete it a sense of accomplishment. There’s a lot of work that goes into gluing all the pieces together and then painting the individual parts. Plus, a lot of dexterity is involved too. It takes fine motor skills to put together these models. And for those reasons, it’s a fabulous gift idea.

BB-8 Sphero

The Star Wars film that hit our cinemas last December was an enormous hit, especially among young boys. The actors in that movie were great. But the film’s biggest star was a humble droid called BB-8. Now you can buy a toy version of BB-8 called the BB-8 Sphero. It’s a clever toy that can be controlled from a smartphone. And it’s got smart software on board, so they can talk to it, just as Rey does in the actual films.

Custom T-Shirts

Right now there a booming market in customized T-shirts. It seems as if there is a T-shirt for everyone. Thanks to this buying a T-shirt an opportunity for you to show that you care. Perhaps the young boy in your life is really concerned about a particular issue, and they want a T-shirt to reflect that. Or maybe they really like a particular pop group or video game. Whatever it is, there will be a T-shirt to match.

Guitar

There’s a lot of science that backs up the idea that children do better in school when if they learn to play a musical instrument. And so what better way to prepare the young man in your life than getting him a guitar? Not only will he be able to play great music in a few year’s time, but he’ll also be training his brain. And that’s surely a win-win for everyone.
