Who doesn’t like a pretty cookie? Ever wonder how the bakeries make them? In A Cookie to Celebrate by Jana Douglass, she gives you step by step directions on how to create some of the most beautiful cookies right in your very own kitchen!
This book is all about cookies! There is a basic sugar cookie recipe on page 15 in chapter 1. Chapter 1 is all about the basic cookie recipe that you will be using through the rest of the book.
Chapter 2 is all about royal icing. I never knew royal icing was so easy to make! I must admit, I have been known to go to the bakery and buy a tub of royal icing when I needed it but not anymore! In this chapter, you will learn all about royal icing, how to color it, store it and why you would want to use a tip or no tip for decorating.
Chapter 3 gives you your decorating basics. This is where you are going to go over outlining, filling in and how to use sprinkles on those cookies you will be decorating later on in the book.
Chapter 4 is all about spring cookies. In this chapter, you will learn how to decorate a basket cookie.
Chapter 5 is all about the sprinkles. You will learn how to make your own sprinkle mix and how to make a 4th of July inspired ice cream cone cookie.
Chapter 6 is about fall and pumpkins. Learn how to decorate a fabulous fall pumpkin, a cute jack-o-lantern cookie, and how to add frosting flowers to your cookies.
Chapter 7 is all about winter. Here you’ll learn how to decorate snowflakes and mittens.
There are a few more chapters but each chapter will teach you, in a step by step process on how to decorate a specific cookie. By the time you are done working your way through the book, you’ll be decorating like a pro!
