A Time To Be Kind

Have you heard of Moodsters? Moodsters are these adorable little creatures that live Zach’s bed. They help Zach and his sister, Zoey understand their feelings and work through them. There’s Lolly (loving), Snorf (sad), Coz (happy), Razzy (angry) and Quigly (afraid).  Each Moodster represents a different feeling. Denise Daniels created the Moodsters to help children and parents learn the fundamentals of feelings. They help children communicate, identify and understand their own feelings as well as those around them.

The Moodsters A Time to be Kind

In A Time To Be Kind Zach is riding bikes with his best friend, Sam. They LOVE to ride their bikes all day long racing one another around town. But Zach’s bike is old and falling apart, he’s been saving up for month’s to buy a new one. One day, Zach and Sam were riding their bikes, they decided they needed a snack so they left their bikes outside and went in to Zach’s house for a snack. All of a sudden they heard an awful noise. Everyone ran out side just in time to see a big old smelly garbage truck drive down the street and see Sam’s bike smashed. The truck had ran over Sam’s bike! That’s when the Moodsters spring into action.

The Moodsters help the reader identify the feelings Sam is going through. And then the Moodsters help Zach figure out his feelings and how he can help Sam feel better. In the end, Zach takes all the money he has been saving and buys Sam a new bike. Zach realizes that without Sam bike riding is no fun. And that doing something nice for another gives you the best feelings of all.

I think this is a wonderful book for children. A Time To Be Kind teaches a child to identify feelings through body language and teaches a child to be selfless and kind. I also liked how the Moodsters fixed up Zach’s old bike as a reward for his generosity towards Sam.

Anther wonderful thing about Moodsters book is each one comes with a tool (toy) to help your child identify their feelings. A Time To Be Kind comes with a mirror so your child can see how facial expressions match up with feelings. These are perfect books for preschoolers and up. The stories are educational as well as entertaining.

You can pick up your very own copy of A Time To Be Kind at Target.

Connect with Moodsters online, Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date on their latest books.
