Another great family friendly movie has been released on DVD this morning. You can now watch Air Bound on demand, digital HD or head to the store and pick up a copy.
In the opening scenes of Air Bound we meet Gavin and Matthew. Two city mice trying to find their way to the ocean. Since they live in the city they’ve never seen the ocean and it’s their dream to see it. On their journey to find the ocean they come across a whole bunch of mice. I thought it looked like a carnival! There was all this food and dancing and people having fun. Matthew was extremely excited when he saw the food and just started gobbling up everything he could. Gavin was taking in all the sites. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He had never seen so many mice in one place at one time. But then Matthew made a mistake, he took a huge bite of fish not realizing it was meant for the king.
A big uproar happened when Matthew took that bite. Immediately he was brought before the king. Gavin was so busy taking in everything that he didn’t notice Matthew had been hauled off. And that is when Matthew met the Ship Mice. When Gavin realized Matthew was missing he went searching for him and found him at the feet of the biggest member of the Ship Mice.
The Ship Mice are a group of mice that travel to where other mice are in trouble and help them. They are the strongest and most feared mice around. At first, Gavin was in awe but then he realized he was going to have to fight to save Matthew. And even though Gavin is much smaller, he doesn’t back down. Just as Gavin is about to claim his victory over the Ship Mice a small sick little mouse is brought into the room, Chester.
Chester is from Dream Island and has traveled a far ways to find help for his family. They are being terrorized by the evil white weasel, Winston. The Ship Mice have fought Winston before and it did not end well. Many of them are afraid and refuse to help. But Gavin stands up and offers to help Chester.
Chester and Gavin set out to find a boat that will take them back to Dream Island. And just before the ship set sails they discover that a few of the Ship Mice have decided to join them.
I won’t give away the rest of the movie but I will tell you this. It’s an action packed movie. There are some dramatic fight scenes that may be a tad upsetting to the littles. And I found it to be emotional for little kids. Peyton, who’s 6 years old, was cheering and screaming at the television. I also heard a lot of gasps and shouting of No!!!!! But she loved the movie. If you do have a sensitive child or a younger child I would suggest watching it first to see if they can handle it. In my opinion, this is an action-packed movie suitable for 1st graders and up.
