Amaretto Sour Cocktail

Today we are sharing a classic cocktail, you will learn how to make an Amaretto Sour cocktail. Complete with step-by-step directions and links to purchase everything you need to make this classic cocktail except the alcohol. But a quick stop by your favorite local liquor store will fix that!

A fun little piece of knowledge – The Amaretto Sour was one of the most popular cocktails of the 1980s. Introduced in 1974 as a simple 2 part cocktail recipe by the makers of Amaretto, this cocktail took off in bars all across the country in the 80s. It’s quick, simple, and delicious!

To make an Amaretto Sour cocktail you will need the following –

1 1/2 Ounce Amaretto Liqueur
1 1/2 Ounce Sweet & Sour Mix
1 1/2 Once Sprite (optional)
Ice Cubes
Orange Slice (garnish)
Cherry (garnish)
Cocktail Shaker
Low Glass or Mason Jar
Straws
Decorative Garnish Picks

I like to use Sprite in my Amaretto Sours but originally it was only Amaretto Liqueur and lime juice. Over the years, the public and I, have adapted this cocktail and it has turned in to the recipe, at least it has in my home.

First, place some ice cubes in your cocktail shaker.

Pour the Amaretto Liqueur, Sweet & Sour Mix, and Sprite over the ice in the cocktail shaker.

Place the lid on the cocktail shaker and give it a few shakes until everything is well combined.

Pour into your glass of choice, for us it was a mason jar.

Top with your orange and cherry garnishes.

Add a straw and enjoy!

We have so many cocktail recipes to share! Be sure to check out our other cocktail recipes too.
