Amusement Parks and Nutrisystem

Nutrisystem DisclosureValley Fair, that was my challenge this past weekend. What is Valley Fair? Well, it’s an amusement park full of rides and plenty of off plan foods that can tank my nutritional intake for the day.  My goal was to stay on track with my calorie intake in relation to my calorie burn. But how? By journaling my food and using my Fitbit to track my activity.

The first thing I learned when I started this journey with Nutrisystem is to journal. Journal everything you put in your mouth. The first few weeks were hard getting into the routine but now it’s second nature. When I grab a snack, drink or meal I open up the Numi app and journal what I’m eating. I also open my Fitbit app and journal it there too.  That way I can cross reference my calorie intake and see how much I am burning based on my activity level. My goal is to burn 1000 more calories than I take in each day.

RIdes at Valley FairAnother way I planned on surviving this amusement park adventure was water. I wasn’t sure if we could bring water bottles into the park, this was a last minute decision to go but I knew they would sell water there. However, today it’s hot. Like 90 outside with high humidity. I really wanted ice water to help cool down so I bought the unlimited beverage cup and kept having it refilled with ice water! Who says you have to fill it with soda? Though I did notice a few other people with water bottles from that were filling them with ice and water at every beverage station. So learned that next time I can bring my own water bottle and save $15.

As we were walking through the park I kept an eye out for food vendors. I was looking for one that sold salads or something that I could modify for my needs. I was surprised to find a Subway! And there was a taco place too! I ended up eating at the taco kiosk. I enjoyed a steak taco with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions and a sprinkle of cheese. It was a great way to stay on plan while enjoying time out with Peyton.

Waiting in line at Valley FairToday was a scorcher. I did not think we would be able to enjoy ourselves with how hot it was. But we planned out the park and we actually ended up staying for 10 hours! I enjoyed two meals while I was at the park, both fit into my nutritional goals and helped keep my calorie balance. And I was able to stay hydrated and got in well over my 64 ounces of water. Snacks didn’t seem to an issue today, though I’m thinking that is because it was so hot and none of wanted to eat. But I had scoped out snack options just in case and I had also brought two snacks with me. I didn’t end up needing a snack though.

Though I did learn one very important lesson today……wear water shoes while in a water park. Do you know how hot the walkways can get? On my goodness, I thought my feet were going to burn off! It hurt so bad!!

And I also had a huge breakthrough today……I wore a swimsuit in public! I can’t remember the last time I did that. But I did it today. I wore a swimsuit and went on water rides with Peyton. We played in the wave pool and went around the lazy river. And I didn’t feel self-conscience at all.

The Wild Thing at Valley FairJoining Nutrisystem has been one of my best decisions I’ve made in a long time. I’ve lost 20 lbs, my confidence has increased and I am really in tune with my needs. I still have a ways to go till I reach my goal but I know I can get there with the help of Nutrisystem.

Nutrisystem gave me the knowledge and tools to navigate the amusement park today. It taught me about planning and prepping for meal time so I don’t end up starving and taking the first thing that I see. I kept an eye out all morning and when it was time for lunch I knew exactly where to go.

If you are ready to slow down and enjoy life while trying to drop a few pounds, check out Nutrisystem. It’s really made a difference in my life.
