Raising a young lady in today’s world is a challenge. Everywhere they turn they are bombarded by sexualized images, clothes, movies, music and more. As parents it’s our responsibility to try and help them navigate all these pressures and develop a self confidence and self worth that will take them into adult hood. Sound like a tough task? It can be and it is! Brave Girls Beautiful You is a book geared towards young girls. Throughout the book three young girls – Gracie, Hope and Glory explore bible versus and how they relate to thier lives.
For families that are church goers and thier daughters attend services this book would be right up their ally. If you are a family that is not familiar with the bible Brave Girls may be unfamiliar territory. We are not a church going family. I believe in God and his teaching I just have not found a church we fit into. Since we have not spent much time reviewing the bible and His words the versus were a little foreign to me. But I appreciated how they took a verse and then related it to a real life situation. I think there are wonderful messages for young girls throughout the book. I also liked how there were prayer pointers with each lesson.
If you are looking for a book that will help build a young ladies self worth in a world that girls are being objectified in with a strong Christian background this is a book worth looking into. Brave Girls covers topics such as beauty, cosmetics, love, abuse of technology (ie always having your nose in your phone) and more. The goal is to have young girls look at the situations around them and see how there are various ways to handle them and to think, really think about it.
