Escape to 100 Acre Woods with Winnie Pooh and friends. I think that was every child’s dream growing up. Everyone wanted to find Christopher Robin and become his friend in hopes of being invited to tag along on his walks in the woods and hang out with Winnie the Pooh. That would have been a childhood dream come true!
Fast forward a few decades and Christopher Robin has grown up and no longer spends time in the woods. He’s kind of forgotten how to have fun and about his childhood pals. Christopher is caught up in being an adult and the adult world with all its responsibilities. Now that Christopher is all grown up he’s working as an efficiency expert at a luggage company, managed by a demanding boss, Giles Winslow Jr. He’s also married to an architect named Evelyn and has a daughter named Madeline. Christopher wants to send Madeline to the same boarding school he went to as a child.
But his finances take a turn when the company he works for must lay off 20% of the employees and Christopher must do paperwork on it and turn it in by Monday, despite the fact that Christopher has planned a weekend getaway to the countryside with his wife and daughter. After telling Evelyn about the task at hand, she tells Christopher that his life is happening before him and he must see it and she and Madeline head out into the country the following morning.
Christopher’s adult life does not leave much room for fun or childhood memories. But wouldn’t you know, good ol’ Winnie the Pooh finds Christopher Robins and helps him remember what it was like to be in the 100 Acres Woods with Pooh and all his friends.
Throughout the movie we see Christopher grapple with the tasks before him. Trying to be matter of fact and not having time for fun or making memories with his family. But over the course of the film, we see Christopher change his priorities and reorganize his life.
If you are looking for a family film to watch this holiday with your family this is a great one.
Christopher Robin is now available on Blu-Ray or on demand.
