Last year, I took the family and extended family out to the Ice Castles in Stillwater, Minnesota. With our crazy weather, it wasn't open that long so I'm glad we were able to take all the kids and go. Besides being an absolutely beautiful experience it is also a freezing cold experience! Last year, it was so cold the night we went that we didn't stay long but what little time we did have before it became too cold was amazing and rememberable. The kids loved running through the tunnels, ...

Spoiling the Polar Bears at Como Zoo
The Como Zoo was the first zoo that I ever visited. Growing up in the Twin Cities it was the place to go. I've been on numerous school field trips to the Como Zoo and taken Peyton several times as well. But today, we were going to do something we had never done before. We were going to be making enrichment (treats) for the polar bears! Not all enrichment are food based. Enrichment can be a toy or a smell or anything that can peak an animal's interest and remind them of their natural ...
Discover THAT Cooking School
Peyton and I love to watch cooking shows and competitions, so when we found out we were spending an evening at THAT Cooking School we were pretty excited. I have grown up in the Twin Cities all my life and I have never been to THAT Cooking School. To be honest, I didn't even know about it until I got my itinerary for the weekend. But once I read about it I knew it was a place I wanted to visit. For those of you unfamiliar with THAT Cooking School let me tell you a little about it. THAT stands ...
Santaland is Now Open at Macy’s
Before downtown Minneapolis had Macy's it was Dayton's department store. I remember every winter we would head downtown to Dayton's 8th floor and see the holiday decorations, look at the displays and see Santa. It's some of my favorite memories from my childhood. I used to look forward to seeing the displays and all the holiday decorations all year long. As I grew up, things changed, Dayton's was purchased by Macy's. While Macy's may have changed a few things around they kept the holiday ...
Dinner and a Show: Beauty and the Beast
We are a Disney loving family, so when I saw the Chanhassen Dinner Theater was going to be performing Beauty and the Beast I had to buy tickets. Some may think I'm crazy for taking a child to a dinner theater but I think it's some of the best money I've ever spent. Plus, I'll let you in on a secret, join their mailing list. They send out offers with discounts for every show! We don't see every show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. I am pretty particular about which shows we get tickets too. ...
Dinosaurs at the Minnesota Zoo
Head over to the Minnesota Zoo and travel back in time. Back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. The kids and I took the journey and here's what we saw. The walk is long. Especially if you are just heading to the zoo to see the dinosaurs. It's located in the far back past the farm. As you are walking the hilly path to the entrance you start to see things changing. Soon you stumble upon an ancient opening to the land of the dinosaurs. Right there at the entrance is your very first ...
