Children love to be read to and love looking through books. This time of year is the perfect time to gift a few Christmas books or even have Santa stuff their stockings with some. Here are 2 titles, geared towards preschoolers, that were a big hit in our home.
Star Bright, Christmas Night by Hannah C Hall
This board book is perfect for the Pre-K crowd. Hannah C. Hall tells the story of Jesus’s birth through the animals. And what preschooler does not love animals. What’s even better is it’s baby animals and their mommas. It’s sure to keep your little ones attention.
Star Bright, Christmas Night will help give little ones a little better understanding of what Christmas means to all. That there’s another component to Christmas, beyond Santa.
Here’s the book’s synopsis –
From angels to cats to swooping sparrows, the whole earth sings the news of Jesus’ birth in this Christmas board book. Using cheerful rhymes and sweetly simple rhythm, Star Bright, Christmas Night tells the story of that first Christmas in a style that’s lighthearted yet reverent. Readers will experience Christmas through those who might have seen and heard it first: the Star of Bethlehem, a family of cats, a sheepdog in the field, and more. Rich illustrations and toddler-friendly text offer even the tiniest listener a better understanding of what the birth of Jesus means to all creation: hope and new life found in a precious, baby King.
We Wish You a Merry Christmas! with VeggieTales
There was a time when Peyton could not get enough of VeggieTales. She would read every book she could find and watch it as much as I would let her. We Wish You a Merry Christmas! is all about the VeggieTales getting ready for Christmas and spreading holiday cheer. But the favorite part of the book will be the button the kids get to push. Yep, there’s a button that when pushed plays music and your kid can sing along.
Here’s the book’s synopsis –
It’s Christmastime at last, and Larry’s excited to help decorate the village tree. The Veggies gather ornaments, popcorn, and lights, and work together to make the tree beautiful and festive. But just when they think they’ve completed their task, Madame Blue points out what’s missing. They add a star at the top to remind them of the night Jesus was born — the real reason for the celebration. Children can press the button to hear the Veggies singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas in this cheerful holiday sound book.
Both of these books are board books, so they will stand up to the little ones reading and looking at them over and over again.
