The 4th of July is right around the corner. In less than 4 days families will be getting ready to celebrate our independence on a (hopefully) beautiful summer day. With all the kids we have coming over to our house I stocked up on some Popsicle treats. What better way for the kids to cool down after a day of swimming while waiting for it to get dark for fireworks? While I was at the store looking over the impressive selection of Popsicles I thought back to my childhood. We did not have nearly the choices like now. I remember there were banana flavored popsicles (my favorite, which I can never find) and root beer flavored ones too. Then the standard flavors and a choice between twin pops and singles. But today there are so many choices! You could have a different popsicle every day of the month, if not longer, and never repeat.
It was a tough decision on what we were going to bring home. But ultimately we decided to buy a few boxes. The Firecrackers were a must. This is a patriotic weekend coming up and what better way to celebrate than with a red, white and blue Popsicle? The firecracker flavors are Cherry (red), White Lemon (white) and Blue Raspberry (blue). They come in an 8 pack and 18 pack, so keep that in mind. Now that I’m thinking about it, I should’ve picked up 2 or 3 packs because we are going to have 10 kids over and what kid is going to only have 1?? I also purchased some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle popsicles. This is the second time this month I’m purchasing this particular type. Peyton loves them! With flavors like Blue Raspberry for Leonardo, Red Cherry for Raphael, Orange for Michelangelo, and Purple Grape for Donatello what kid wouldn’t love them! The colors are really deep and beautiful too.
If you have not tried the Tropical Paradise Popsicles you really need too. They are so good! With tropical flavors like Mango, tangy Pineapple, fruity Island Punch and sweet Strawberry-Banana it’s an adult version of Popsicle. Peyton and I have been fighting over the Mango and Pineapple Popsicles. They are just so yummy! I hope these stick around all year.
And our last box I brought home was a Sugar-Free Orange, Cherry and Grape. Just in case we need to give the kids a break from sugar.
Having a shelf in our freezer just for Popsicle in the summer is not uncommon in our household. It’s a low-calorie refreshing treat for the kids on a hot summer day!
