Easy Peasy Melted Snowman Cookies

easy peasy melted snowman cookiesI love baking for the holidays but sometimes there is just not enough time to get everything done. So today I am going to share my secret for making these super cute, super easy melted snowman cookies in under an hour! This is how you make easy peasy melted snowman cookies.

You will need a few simple ingredients, all of which can be found at your local grocery store.  Sugar cookies, royal icing, colored icing, marshmallows and chocolate covered orange sunflower seeds (optional).

First thing, bake those cookies! Take them out of the package, place them on the cookie sheet and bake according to the package directions. I was done baking 24 cookies in 25 minutes.

While the cookies are baking, take a plate and set 24 marshmallows on their side.  Take a little dab of royal icing and attach a sunflower seed to each marshmallow, this is the snowman’s nose.

The eyes are your final step. I did blue because we are a family with all blue eyes. But you could use black, brown, green pretty much any color your heart desires.

Once the cookies have cooled down, remove them from the pan and place them on a cookie rack. Then, with a knife, spead a layer of royal icing on the warm cookie. The icing will heat up and spread out with the heat of the cookie.  Tip – if the cookie is cool and icing stiff, use a hair dryer to heat it up over the cookie. It will heat up really quick and you’ll have more control over the spreading of the icing.

Now is the fun part! Put a scarf on your melted snowman. Any color will do. I took what colors we had laying around the pantry and made red, blue and green scarves.

Place 2-3 dots on each cookie for the “buttons” and use the black to draw hands in the icing.

You’re done! See, was that not easy peasy? In less than an hour, I have 24 beautifully decorated cookies!
