Exciting Fall Photoshoots You Can Do At Home

Whether you are an enthusiastic blogger, an Instagram influencer, or a loving mama bear, you know that the fall season is synonymous with wonderful photos. The colors and light combine beautifully to give your shots a unique glow. Fall photoshoots are, by far, the most exciting photos you can take.

So you want to make the most of the upcoming season to create memorable pictures. Don’t be afraid of taking too many photos on your smartphone. You can easily sort them out with smart apps such as Gemini Photos, which you can download from this link: https://macpaw.com/gemini-photos. Most people take beautiful photos that fall into oblivion because they get lost in the never-ending smartphone camera roll. But don’t let it scare you, and focus on capturing mesmerizing fall moments with your loved ones. If you are wondering about which photos to take to best highlight the autumnal mood, here are some ideas to get you started directly at home.

Bring the fall spirit to your home

An outdoor shot of your home and surroundings can be a great “welcome fall” photo if you can show the trees’ subtle colors in the warm sunlight. A word of warning, however: If tall trees surround your home, do make sure to clear fallen debris from your gutters and front yard. These will not only ruin the photo, but they can also affect your home in the long term. When gutters are blocked, the autumnal rain is likely to fall along the walls or stagnate on the roof rather than evacuate safely through the gutters. Maintaining your home facade and exterior will enhance the contrast against the seasonal colors. The best time for a home shoot? Aim for early morning as the sun is rising, or late afternoon so you can capture the moment before sunset, as the sky changes colors too.

Prepare a Halloween wedding-inspired shoot

Is it too early to think about Halloween? Most children will disagree. Some of them already know what their ideal costume should be. It gives you the perfect opportunity to turn the Halloween preparation into a bridal-like photoshoot. Wedding photographers often follow the bride and groom through their make-up and dressing routine before the big day. It’s not uncommon to have pictures of the bride getting ready in front of the mirror and slowly transforming for the ceremony. You can create a similar look and feel with the Halloween costume, setting the mood with the decor and gradually capturing the costume’s process. If you are unsure about DIY costumes, check these simple homemade ideas from Woman’s Day: https://www.womansday.com/home/crafts-projects/g510/diy-halloween-costumes-for-kids/. There’s everything you can dream of, from the Bride of Frankenstein to a legendary knight in armor.

Outdoor garden picture

Can there be anything more exciting than autumnal colors? You can arrange for a portrait of your kids among the leaves. The transition stages are truly beautiful and give your photos a warm tone. Fall photographers recommend staging the scene, so the leaves are clean and dry. You can even build a small pile of leaves for kids to throw in front of the camera. Set your camera on burst mode for rapid-fire shooting. Your smartphone camera also has this function, so you don’t need to break the bank for new equipment.

Thanksgiving dinners

Ah, Thanksgiving dinner party! Are you already thinking about the delicious pie and pumpkin specialties? There is so much to enjoy. So make sure to create a memorable event this year. You can create a cozy table set that will bring all the dishes together. Opt for seasonal colors, such as orange and warm brown, and cream. You can also add candlelight that will reflect delicately on your plates and dishes. The next step is bringing the food to the table and taking pictures without disturbing the celebration. Experienced food photographers recommend taking multiple photos from a variety of angles so you can get the best light and color. Natural light is a must, but when the sun is out, muted lighting and candlelights can do a great job, too. Don’t be afraid of taking photos during dinner too. Table scenes can be lively and heart-warming too.

First hot chocolate and marshmallow evening

Last but not least, let’s not forget the first autumnal fire in the garden or at home. A close-up shot of the flame with a hot cup of cocoa and a few marshmallows on top: Bliss guaranteed. Make sure to use the warm and orange fire as a source of light for the shot. It will create interesting shadows and colors.

Are you ready to capture your first autumnal shot? There is so much to record and enjoy that you want to have a camera on you at all times. The good news: Your smartphone is a high quality camera and lets you share some of the best photos on social media in real-time. Train your photographer’s eye and record all those beautiful moments.
